Quad/Patellar Tendon Repair Rehab Program
Phase 1: 0-2 Weeks
TTWB (20% – 30%) with crutches and brace locked in full extension
Brace:
locked in full extension except for exercises/PT and hygiene
ROM:
PROM or AAROM from 0° – 30° only
Strengthening: isometric quad/hamstring/adductor/abductors, leg raises w/o knee motion, ankle theraband exercises
Phase 2: 2-6 Weeks
TTWB (20% – 30%) with crutches and brace locked in full extension
Brace:
locked in full extension except for exercises/PT and hygiene
ROM:
PROM or AAROM. May increase by 15°/week. Goal of 90° by 6 weeks
Strengthening: isometric quad/hamstring/adductor/abductors, leg raises w/o knee motion, ankle theraband exercises
Phase 3: 6+ Weeks
WBAT (wean from crutches)
Wean from brace
ROM:
increase as tolerated to full
Strengthening: progress strengthening (low weight/high reps), stationary bike
